What a gorgeous detailed stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

The Welcoming Woods stamp set is a must have. It makes wonderful masculine cards and can be used for any season. In addition to the leaves, it comes with snowflakes to enable you to create a beautiful wintry scene. The sentiments in this set use a beautiful scripty font. The sentiment that I used for this particular card actually came from my stash of exclusive Paper Pumpkin stamp sets. It was plain but exactly what I was looking for
I used Early Espresso for the card base (8 1/2 by 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4). The crumb cake layer (5 5/16 x 4 1/16) was run through the Bark 3D embossing folder (so fitting for this stamp set!). Cherry Cobbler (4 15/16 x 3 11/16) cardstock was layered under the Very Vanilla card stock (4 3/4 x 3 1/2). Soft Suede was used for the mat under the sentiment and Pear Pizzazz was used to stamp the sentiment on.
The cardstock leaves were cut out using dies from the Cherry Blossom die set. I used 1 inch square scraps in both Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry for the leaves.

Here you see the inside of the card where I stamped just a few of the trees and used the other two leaves that were leftover from the Cherry Blossom dies. The dies in this set cut out two leaves at a time which makes it really nice. You also get choices of the sizes of leaves. This size was just perfect for this card and the leaves looked very much like the leaves on the trees.
Does is matter which order do you stamp everything? I did find that if you wait to apply the sky as the very last step, the blue tends to affect the leaves. So, the best order is as follows: I stamped the trees in Soft Suede then I stamped the background hill (the unusual looking stamp in the set) in Old Olive. Using the Stamping Brushes, I filled in some grass with Old Olive and sky with Balmy Blue. Last but not least the leaf stamp is turned various ways to get all the leaves “on” the tree. I applied the Crush Curry first a few times then moved on to the Cherry Cobbler to fill in the rest of the leaves.
