This card is a very special card as I made it for my daughter. She has been going through a difficult season and really needed some encouragement. Years ago she gave me a little jar for Mother’s Day that she had made in Sunday School. It had little pieces of paper in it. I think they may have either been encouragement sayings or perhaps tickets to redeem for various household chores being done. Nevertheless, I decided that I could turn the jar shaker dome into one that would hold tiny pieces of encouragement instead of shaker material. The trick would be how to access them since a true shaker dome is sealed off all around.
Through trial and error (and quite a bit of error), I was able to make a backdoor into the jar. I had several requests for a tutorial so I used my last jar dome to recreate the card so that you could make one of your own. The link to my YouTube tutorial is here.
I chose Stampin’ Up! Jar of Flowers stamp set and coordinating punch for this card. My daughter loves sunflowers, so that is the flower set I chose from the stamps. This card was uniquely designed for her so I used lots of different stamps and paper to achieve this particular card. Sadly the shaker domes that coordinate with this set have just retired. There is a new set called Bottles of Happiness that also has shaker domes. You could use that set to achieve a similar look. However, those shaker domes are about half the width of the Jar of Flowers domes. So, you would not be able to put as many words of encouragement inside.
I usually put the dimensions for a tutorial here on my blog but this one is really too complicated. I could try an post various pictures but I have already made a new card and have a video ready to process. So, if you would like or need more photos with dimensions, please leave a comment and I’ll be happy to try and accommodate.
