Notes of Nature Card

The Notes of Nature bundle caught my eye right away when I thumbed through the Mini Catalog for the first time. It went to the top of my wish list. I made a card using all the dies from the set and then I sat stumped for awhile. This afternoon I was determined to come up with another card using the same bundle. It took a few hours and lots of trial and error before I came up with a design that I really liked.

If you like vintage-look or distressed-look, you will probably be a fan of this card. I used a sponge dauber to create the aged look on various pieces in the card. The base of the card is Garden Green followed by a layer of Soft Seafoam which I embossed with the Fern 3D folder. To get the added dimension, I inked the folder with Crumb Cake before embossing.

The Notes of Nature stamp set comes with wonderful stamps that add texture as well as dimension. I found the gold faux leather trim also worked well to add dimension for this card. Lacing it through the die cut holes, I simply adhered the trim to the back of the paper. Because the trim is thick, I used dimensionals under the distressed piece of Very Vanilla which kept it above the distressed Crumb Cake background piece.

On my first Notes of Nature card, I did not add a sentiment. For this card, I masked the bottom half of the “just a little note” sentiment then added it to the stamped ledger piece. I was very pleased to have found a way to subtly add a sentiment to the card. Did you notice the sentiment when you first saw the card?

The Inside

For the inside of the card I used a mat of Soft Seafoam followed by a mat of Pecan Pie. By touching all four edges of the Soft Seafoam piece in the Garden Green ink pad, I was able to easily add dimension to that piece of cardstock. The Very Vanilla piece was distressed like the pieces on the front of the card. I also stamped off with Crumb Cake with two of the stamps.
