Pop-up Vase Card in Lost Lagoon

A pop-up card is always a fun surprise for the recipient. I made this card for a friend’s birthday. Some of her favorite Stampin’ Up! colors are Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon. So, I knew I had to find a way to incorporate those two colors into her card.

Because Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon are blue/green colors, they don’t exactly lend themselves to be flowers. As a result, I let the card base and layered pieces be those two colors. I used complimentary colors (Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Basic White) to be the flower petals. The vase is from a piece of retired DSP (Poetic Expressions).

Sadly, the flowers are from a wonderful die cut set that is now retired. The set is called Paper Florist in case you happen to have that set. For another card, I used daffodils which are also retired. The returning Cheerful Daisies might be a good option if you don’t happen to have either of the afore mentioned sets.

Front of Pop-up Vase card

Here is the front of the card. The front of the card only lightly hints as to what might be happening on the inside. I was able to tie in some of the colors and textures that are found on the inside. For the textures, I used the new 3D eyelet embossing folder. The embossed panel can be found both the front and the inside of the card.

When the card is opened, you get the surprise of not only the pop-up part but also a splash of new colors. One thing to note with this card is that the bulkiness of it means that you will need to add extra postage when mailing. I usually mail most of my cards with the special “non-machinable” stamp.
