Leaves and Acorns Card

My favorite season hands down is fall. So, I have been busy designing cards with the new Amber Autumn bundle. I wanted to use the intricate leaf die to make card. The end result was this leaves and acorns card.

To get all the fun fall colors on the leaves, I colored “splotches” with blending brushes. The base is Basic Beige so I used Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry. This technique was demonstrated on my LIVE last week and I’ll make a regular video tutorial too. You can view that tutorial here.

For the frame, I used two of the Textured Notes dies. After cutting out the frame, I inked up the Birch Wood 3D embossing folder with Early Espresso ink. Then I placed the frame in the folder and ran it through the Stamp Cut and Emboss machine. The inked up embossed look was exactly what I was after.

One of my favorite parts to this leaves and acorns card is the actual stamped image of the oak leaves and two acorns. Because I love to color, I used Stampin’ Blends to color the leaves and the acorns. The finishing touch was adding Wink of Stella.

It’s not easy photographing images with Wink of Stella. I zoomed in and turned the light different ways to try and capture the fun shininess. The embellishments are cool as well. But Wink of Stella trumps them all in my book. 😉 Have I gotten you excited about fall cards yet?

Using the same technique as I did on the front of the card, I “colored” more Basic Beige paper. There is a single oak leaf die that is part of the Amber Autumn bundle which I used to cut out two leaves. The vein stayed in one of the leaves when I cut it. Since I liked both the vein and deveined look, I kept both of them and adhered them to the inside.
