Magic Slider Card

All interactive cards are fun. But the Magic Slider card may be the most fun one of them all.
Honestly, it may be a toss up between the Never Ending Card and the Magic Slider card. Nevertheless, today we will be talking about a top contender.

For some reason, I decided that I wanted to use the pretty hydrangea bloom from the Thankful Garden stamp set. Thinking that the image would really make an impression in a magic slider card. However, I did not anticipate the image being too large to work with a regular A2 card size. After making several mockups, I came up with measurements that worked perfectly for an A6 card size. Problem solved.

If you are unfamiliar with magic slider cards, the magic is found in the piece of cardstock that separates the two images. Usually magicians are not suppose to divulge their secrets. But, I’m sure you’re here to find out how the magic actually works.

The front of the Magic Slider Card

The front of the magic slider card doesn’t exactly wow a viewer. However, tucked inside is another image that is full of vibrant colors. The vibrant colors are a stark contrast to the relatively bland image on the front of the card. The first image is stamped with Stazon ink to a Window Sheet (acetate).

When stamping the two images, a positioning tool is extremely helpful. You need the plain front image and the colorful inside image to be stamped in exactly the same position. Stampin’ Up! had a wonderful positioning tool that retired several years ago. Recently, they announced a new positioning tool which will also be perfect for creating Magic Slider cards. In the month of February (2026) the new positioning tool will be available for those who sign up to be a Demonstrator. How to Video

Being a visual learner, I always look for videos when trying to recreate a card. For this reason, I created a video that shows you step by step how to put the Magic Slider card together. If you are using a larger stamp like I did, the measurements that I used will be helpful. I’ll put the measurements below. But, to access the step by step video, just click here.

Measurements

• Card base: 9-1/2 x 6-3/4. Score on the 9-1/2 side at 9 and 4-1/2. Score on the 6-3/4 inch side at 1/2. You will trim off two sections on the 6-3/4 inch side to form the bottom tab. You will use a rectangular die to create a window. I used Textured Notes Dies.
• Magic inner piece: 4- 3/4 x 5 – 7/8 scored at 3/8
• Cardstock to stamp and color: 3-3/4 x 5-7/8
• Window Sheet to stamp: 3-3/4 x 5-7/8
• Cardstock for pull tab: use 1-1/4 inch punch
• Stopper piece: 3/8 x 4-1/4
• Top border piece in DSP: 3/4 x 3-7/8 scored in half at 3/8
