Faux Double Vision Card

The Faux Double Vision technique is all the rage at the moment. I decided to give it a whirl with the Beautiful Gallery 6 x 6 DSP. It is always so hard to cut up pretty DSP especially when it is a landscape or other piece that fills the entire piece. Thankfully, the faux double vision technique allows you to keep most of your beautiful DSP.

When I was experimenting with this technique, I noticed that the SU foam strips were too skinny. After seeing other people use thicker foam tape, I decided to give it a try. I chose a 1/2 tape and cut my thinner strips just a tad wider. Dimensionals would work fine as well. But, I liked having the foam strip following along the strips of DSP.

I had several pieces of the Beautiful Gallery DSP at the ready for my LIVE last week. During the LIVE the viewers help pick out papers, colors, embellishments etc. The card above features one of the pieces of DSP that was not chosen that night. Since the pieces had been precut, I made this card up after the LIVE. One of the viewers who left a comment will win the card that we made (this happens each week).

The sentiments came from the lovely Wonderful Thoughts stamp set. Sadly, this stamp set moved to the retired list recently (I believe). But there are many other sets that you could use. For example, the brand new Phrases and Frames stamp set would be a wonderful choice.

A Different Angle

Here are the cards at an angle so you can see how different pieces of the DSP are popped up with the foam tape. I think it gives the image a neat effect without compromising the image. If you haven’t tried this simple but sophisticated technique, you really should.
