Window Easel Card

After seeing a fun fold card like this, I knew I had to make one. This particular window easel card is actually my second card design. My first design used flowers.

The Sweet Bugs bundle and the coordinating Cute as a Bug Designer Series paper have been sitting in my craft room for a couple of weeks. After I created my first card using the window easel design, I knew I wanted to try it with the Bugs.

With all the products in front of me, the wheels in my creative brain started spinning. At first I thought I would use a combination of the stamps, dies and paper. But the more I looked at the DSP, the more I fell in love with it. All the little scenes on the paper are absolutely adorable!

Beginning with the DSP, I began fussy cutting out different images. I then arranged them and rearranged them until I had a forest floor full of mushrooms in front of me. Then came the part of deciding on the cardstock color.

On my LIVE the viewers help me pick colors, embellishments, etc. So, I let them decided on the cardstock color. They chose Mossy Meadow.

After that decision was made, it was all about pieces everything together. Because the card looks so happy, the viewers chose the birthday sentiment. Any sentiment would work as long as it fit under the mushrooms, hidden from view initially.

As you can see, the sentiment is safely tucked in behind the mushrooms. Because I used two layers under the sentiment, it will act like a stopper for the card when the card is opened up. I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow on Soft Seafoam cardstock.

HOw Does the window easel card work?

Here is a view of the window easel card from the side. The window sheet is sandwiched between two Mossy Meadow frames. And I almost forgot…I did end up using one stamp from the set. The tiny little flower stamp was perfect to stamp around the outer arched frame.

Tip for the Window Easel Card

The biggest tip or trick for this card is how you cut the base. You will need to set the arch die on your paper with the very top of the arch ever so slightly above the edge of the paper. After securing it down, you will run the paper and die through the Stamp Cut and Emboss machine. This is how to create the hinge between the two arches instead of cutting them apart. See the photo below.
