Violet All Occasion Card

When I saw the lovely upcoming Framed Violets, I immediately ordered it. I have always loved violets. My grandmother loved violets and even had violet dishes. When my daughter was little, her first big girl bed had a comforter with violets. Perhaps it is the combination of purples and greens up against white that gets me every time. If purple is your color, you might want to check out other cards that I have created in purple.

As soon as I received the whole violet suite, I quickly got busy “playing”. The violets are part of an upcoming Online Exclusives set called Framed Violets. Last week on our LIVE everyone got a sneak peak of this pretty set. The coordinating DSP is stunningly beautiful. However, the viewers agreed that our card would look best with the Eyelet Blooms Die which was the Product of the Month for April. I think the combination of the white lace with the purple violets makes a gorgeous card. Because we didn’t add a sentiment (the viewers thought a sentiment would distract from the pretty flowers), the card can be an all occasion card.

Prior to the LIVE, I focused on one particular stamp from new Framed Violets bundle. My first thought was to try “no line” coloring. After experimenting coloring with Blends, I decided to try using the Water Painters. I often use the Water Painters on Basic White cardstock. But for some reason, in this instance, using the watercolor paper yielded the best results.

Here you can see the water coloring. I used the same colors from the DSP: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia, and Peaceful Pine. One thing I found with all my experimentation is that using a water color pencil first seemed to make a nice difference in the overall affect. Using just a very light coat of the water color pencil before painting with the ink seemed to be the perfect combination for me. The inside

There are lovely dies in the bundle. We chose to use a cluster of the flowers with the coordinating leaves to decorate the inside of the card. The center of the flowers is just a hole. So, I used a hole punch to punch out some Lemon Lolly cardstock to go behind the flower petals.

I’m looking forward to playing more with this lovely new set. The bundle (and entire Suite) will be available for customers to purchase in July.
