Cute Mushroom Card

I wanted to use the mushrooms from the Sweet as a Bug bundle and one of the cute epoxy ladybugs on a card. So, I designed this card around those two elements. The result is a cute mushroom card.

This card was used on my weekly YouTube LIVE and also for my monthly class. Once all the pieces are cut out, it is easy to assemble. Most of you time will be spent on coloring the mushrooms and making a small grassy hill for them to grow on.

Did you notice the fun square die cut? It comes from a brand new die set called Tile Garden Dies. It will be available to customers in September ’26. The set reminds me of the lovely Spotlight on Nature Dies except instead of circles, we know have squares. I know I’m going to really love using this new set.

Tips and Tricks

Cutting a sticky note, I created a mask for the grassy hill. The only thing needed after the mask is in place is some Old Olive ink and a Blending Brush. After just a few swirls of ink, you can remove the mask and to reveal a perfect grassy hill.

Above you can see how I colored the mushroom stems. Using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends, it is easy to make your mushroom stems look ‘real’. I demonstrated how to color the stems on my weekly LIVE. You can view it here and just fast forward to the coloring part. The mushroom caps have a few random dots of a white gel pen. Adding the dots, helps tie the now ‘real’ stems to a no longer flat and boring mushroom cap.

the Inside scoop

For the inside of the cute mushroom card, I just added some cardstock and a strip of Designer Series Paper (Cute as a Bug). You could certainly stamp the cluster of 3 mushrooms on the lefthand corner. The addition of mushrooms on the inside would definitely help tie the front of the card to the inside.

During the weekly LIVE the viewers chose the color of the card base. They had a choice of Mossy Meadow or Soft Seafoam. They chose Mossy Meadow. For the class, we used Soft Seafoam for our cute mushroom card base. I also thought it was fun to make the card fold on the top instead of the traditional side fold.
