Trusty Tools Father's Day Card - Creative Treehouse

I enjoyed using the Trusty Tools bundle to create this Father’s Day card. The bundle works well for any masculine card. Since this was my first time to actually play with this set, I learned a few things. I learned that not all the stamps have coordinating dies. In addition, there are several dies that do not have complimentary stamps.

To create this card I stamped the hammer and the crescent wrench onto Smoky Slate cardstock. I colored them with Stampin’ Blends then cut them out with their respective dies. The drill has a die but does not have a coordinating stamp. As a result, I used a Blend and a Stampin’ Write marker to step it up and help it match the other tools.

I am delighted to report that Silver cardstock is back! I used it behind the toolbox and also on the drill bit. Many of the bits and pieces of this Trusty Tool set are small. So, I recommend using the Tombow liquid glue from a small bottle with a thin nozzle. You can find the bottles that I use on my blog under my Favorites.

The pegboard die is awesome! To give this particular die some depth, I backed it with a piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Continuing with depth, I used dimensionals under the red tool box. In addition, each of the tools are popped up with Dimensionals.

The Inside

For the inside of the card, I chose two of the sentiments that come in the Trusty Tools stamp set. I stamped the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment in Night of Navy directly onto the piece of Crumb Cake. Later, I stamped the “DAD” sentiment in Real Red onto Basic Beige cardstock. To add a little dimension, I ran the beige piece through the Timbe 3D embossing folder.

At the bottom of the card, I stamped the tape measure, colored it and die cut it. The loose screws, bolt, and nuts were die cut out of Basic Gray. I had hoped to stamp those then die cut. But, I soon realized that the stamp and dies for the loose fasteners do not pair up. They are so very close! However, when it comes down to it, they simply do not go together.

Basic White Card Base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4, 2 x 1 1/2 (for tape measurer)
Crumb Cake Cardstock: 4 x 3 5/8 (for pegboard), 4 5/8 x 3 3/8 (for inside)
Real Red Cardstock: 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 (for toolbox)
Early Espresso Cardstock: slightly less than pegboard (4 x 3 5/8), 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 (for handle)
Daffodil Delight: 2 1/2 x 2 (for drill)
Basic Black: 3/4 x 1 3/4 (for drill bit)
Silver Foil: 3/4 x 1 1/4 (for end of drill bit), 2 strips @ 1 3/16 x 1/2 (to go behind toolbox holes)
Smoky Slate: 3 1/2 x 3 (for hammer and wrench)
Basic Beige: 1 5/8 x 2 5/8 (to be embossed after stamping)
