Tool Belt Card

I had so much fun creating a paper tool belt for this Father’s Day card! Sometimes an idea just pops in my head then I set out to make it become a reality. This card is the result of one such idea. Hopefully, you will find the tool belt card as cool as I do.

After looking up images of tool belts, I settled on one that seemed iconic to me. The Mossy Meadow and Copper Clay were the perfect colors to recreate the iconic belt in paper. It took some trial and error to figure out the best way to create the pleats in the paper that make the pockets. Having a score board definitely helped with all the scoring needed for this project.

As you can tell, I’m so excited about the creation of the tool belt itself, that I have forgotten to tell you about the stamp set and dies that inspired the card. The Trusty Tools stamp set and coordinating dies are absolutely fabulous. I have already created several cards using the bundle. Since my husband likes woodworking, this set was a must have for my stash.

From a Different Angle

The photo above captures the 3D look of the Tool Belt card. If you look closely, you will notice that I drew stitching with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker. Each of the tools were colored with Stampin’ Blends after stamping them in Momento ink. The wrench doesn’t have a coordinating stamp only a die. As a result, I outlined the wrench in black then used a Smoky Slate Blend to give it some depth.

The Inside of the Card

For the inside of the Tool Belt card, I kept the “belt” part going by adding the same sized strips to the top. The sentiments on both the front of the card and the inside come from the Trusty Tools stamp set. I thought the tape measurer was the perfect addition to the inside of the card.
