Storybook Spring

My Storybook Spring card uses products from the Storybook Moments Suite from the Mini Catalog. Everything about the suite is endearing and brings back warm memories of reading stories of garden creatures and their adventures. The soft watercolor images, the warm colors and the sweet fairytale animals from the suite just beg to be played with.

One of my favorite pieces in the suite is the beautiful Designer Series Paper. The 12 x 12 paper pack includes two sheets of cutouts. I’ve chosen to use one of those cut outs in my Storybook Spring card. Behind the cute cutout bunny is a piece of the DSP that coordinates perfectly.

Suite Pieces

In addition to the cutout bunny and background DSP, I also used the Antique Pearls as the flower centers. The sentiment came from one of the stamp sets in the suite, Storybook Friends. The flowers themselves as well as the leaves are dies from the Country Birdhouse bundle which is part of the Country Woods Suite Collection. Both of the Suites coordinate well together.

The Basics

Drawing from the colors in the DSP on the Storybook Spring card, I chose a Misty Moonlight card base. I embossed a piece of Boho Blue (retiring soon) with the Distressed Tiles embossing folder. The Night of Navy color can be found in the two mats as well as the oval frame. The oval frame is a die from the Unbounded Love bundle.

The flowers were die cut from Misty Moonlight while the leaves were cut from Old Olive. I stamped the sentiment in Night Navy onto Basic White cardstock. To add a touch of detail, I put all four edges of the sentiment piece onto a Misty Moonlight stamp pad. Popping up the DSP mat and the oval frame up with Dimensionals helped to give the card more depth. In addition, I popped up two of the flowers with Dimensionals.

There’s more to the story

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing the first card that I created using the Storybook Moments Suite. I’m sure it won’t be my last. I’m even planning on making a special envelope book for my nephew’s daughter who is due in June. Whenever, I complete that project, I’ll be sure to post lots of pictures!
