The Spotlight on Nature bundle was the one my team members chose to create with for our upcoming Stampin’ Up! trip to North Carolina. We each designed a card using the set. During some of our down time at the convention, we will be making cards using the designs that everyone came up with.
It has been a long time since I created a vintage-look card. So, I thought this would be a great opportunity to design one for my team members. The only piece of the Spotlight on Nature bundle that I used for this card was the main stamp. In addition, I decided to use the Online Exclusive stamp set called Elements of Text.
For the colors I chose Basic Beige with hints of Misty Moonlight. I stamped the flower image in Pecan Pie but used Crumb Cake for all the other stamping. The Stampin’ Blends that I used were Light Old Olive, Light Balmy Blue, Dark Balmy Blue, and Light Misty Moonlight.
To create the vintage-look, I roughed up the edges of the paper with my Paper Snips. In the past I have enjoyed tearing the paper to get the vintage-look. But this time I decided to try the scissor technique and I really like the way it turned out. Using the scissors gives the paper unique dimension.
After roughing up the edges of the paper, I used a sponge dauber with Crumb Cake ink to add color to the edges. I also used a Blending Brush with the same color to swirl on a little color from the outer edges to about an inch into the paper. The inside
On the inside of the card, I applied the same technique to the Basic Beige cardstock as I did on the front of the card. Instead of stamping the flowers in Pecan Pie, I chose to soften it up a little more and stamped in Crumb Cake instead. I adhered the stamped piece to a mat of Crumb Cake cardstock for added interest. Before I added the mat, the stamped piece looked lonely by itself.
