Autumn Chalkboard Card

It has been awhile since I’ve used the chalkboard technique. So, when I saw the Ink and Inspiration Blog Hop challenge, my mind went immediately to that technique. However, I really wanted to use one of my new stamp sets, Amber Autumn. After the wheels got spinning in my brain, I came up with a way to combine the blog hop challenge and my desire to incorporate an autumn themed card. What about an autumn chalkboard card?

The Challenge

To be honest, I’m not a fan of the bright colors. However, I decided to challenge myself and incorporate them into my design. Much to my surprise, I was able to use five of the six colors. Wow! I impressed myself. What do you think?

My Autumn Chalkboard Card

The only color I was not able to incorporate into my Autumn Chalkboard card was the Azure Afternoon. I used Stampin’ Blends for the most part to color the images. Because Stampin’ Blends blend so easily, I was able to combine colors to achieve a brown for the pumpkin stems. To keep the white outline from being too stark around the stamped image, I used a black watercolor pencil to soften the look.

Are you familiar with the chalkboard technique. If not, I used a sponge and white craft ink to achieve the look. Dragging the sponge across the black paper and smudging the white ink give the paper the look of a chalkboard. Chalkboards, back to school, and fall all go together in my mind.
