Lots of Layers

Cards with lots of layers and extra details really floats my boat. Before the annual catalog runs out, I wanted to play with some of the awesome bundles. For this card, I picked the Gallery Blooms bundle and the Beautiful Motifs bundle. There were two dies in each that I had not used. So, I wanted to come up with a design that included both of the dies.

One of the dies is the frame die in the Gallery Blooms bundle. Although it is just one die, it cuts out two frames. My original thought was to offset both of the frames. But, I ended up only using the smaller of the two frames.

The other dies that I had not used before was the fancy filigree die. This is an interesting die because it only partially cuts out. I ended up using it on two of the corners of the Misty Moonlight piece. To make this fun partial-cut pop out more, I added some Night of Navy using a sponge dauber.

Another little extra that I used on this card with lots of layers is found on the frame. I found the frame a little flimsy. So, I cut three more out of Basic White and layered them together under the main frame. This gives the frame some depth almost like a real frame.

On my weekly LIVE, the viewers and I created this card. They get to pick some from different combinations. It is always interesting to see what the final result turns out to be. The inside

For the inside, I carried over the distressed feel from the front of the card. Using Crumb Cake, I stamped off around the interior piece. Even the small Crumb Cake mat has distressing on the edges. To distress the edges, I used a sponge dauber with Crumb Cake ink.

WAtch it come together

Recently, I’ve started making stop action clips of card assembly. It’s fun to watch everything come together so quickly. Of course, in reality, it takes a tad longer to put a layered card together. But, it’s fun to watch.
