This sweet bug card was so much fun to make! I had the bundle and the paper sitting around for a few weeks. After I opened the Designer Series Paper, I was smitten. All the little scenes in the paper are so adorable! Each scene could be used to make a separate card. My mind began racing with all the possibilities for sweet bug cards.
The little scene with the bug having a tea party on top of a mushroom made me think of a dear friend. My friend loves tea sets and tea parties. She recently moved away and is sad to have to be away from her friends. When I saw this tea party scene I knew immediately that I needed to make a card for her.
I knew that the tea party on a mushroom needed to be the focus of the card. So, I cut out different mushrooms and other pieces from the DSP that would allow the tea party to be the focus. Wanting to add a stamped image, I chose the pretty little lily of the valley flower. There is only one flower stamp in the Sweet Bugs set and I wanted two, one with the reverse image. Thankfully, I knew the trick for how to stamp the reverse image. If you have the Stampin’ Up! silicone craft make, you can perform the reverse magic too.
Needing the Reverse image
The next step was to use my Blender Pen to color both of the images. After I colored them, I die cut them out. Being able to use a die was great since I had to fussy cut the bugs and the mushrooms. Truth be told, I actually don’t mind fussy cutting.
One. kind of crazy. thing that I did was I took a very fine tip black marker and outlined the tea party scene. The outlining really helped the scene to pop. Pulling out some of my retired Stampin’ Write markers, I even added a little color in a couple of spots. You can look at the photo below to see the difference between the regular image and the image that I outlined.
A little over the top

The final touch was the sentiment which I embossed in white. The sentiment comes from the Sweet Bugs stamp set. The sentiment seemed a little large in relation to the bug tea party. However, I ultimately decided to use it any way. If I hadn’t told you it looked a little large to me, you might not have noticed. So, pretend you never read that. The sentiment is just perfect. LOL
If you would like to see me put the card together in less than a minute, check out the YouTube Short. Of course it took me more than one minute in real time. But with the help of technology, I was able to just capture the highlights.
