Creating a Lilly of the Valley Card

I was finally able to create with the Lilly of the Valley bundle. This Stampin’ Up! bundle has been super popular. As a result, I was only recently able to order it when it came back in stock. Adding the coordinating Designer Series paper and shimmering gems was a must in my book.

Creating the card

This lovely “thinking of you” Lilly of the Valley card was created during last week’s YouTube LIVE event. The viewers were able to chose the sentiment and other aspects of the card. The background frame dies are from the Sweet Words and Labels dies. Garden Green and Soft Seafoam are the colors of the frames. Bringing in Coastal Cabana color found in the DSP was fun. I used Coastal Cabana in the background splatters, the outside of the sentiment label, and edges of the flowers and the background splatters (although the splatters were Pool Party – cousin to Coastal Cabana) .

The Secret to the flowers

To bring the Lilly of the Valley flowers to life, I first used a sponge dauber. Using Balmy Blue with a touch of Coastal Cabana on the very tips, I colored the bell portion of the petals. After all the flowers were colored, I cut each of the flowers off of the stem before adding them to a Granny Apple Green stem. Adding the white flowers to the green stem created more depth and dimension. Although you can’t tell in the photo, I also added Wink of Stella to each flower for a little sparkle.

Another Floral bundle?

Why buy another flower bundle? Well, to me, each of the flower bundles brings something fresh and new to the craft table. In this particular case, Lilly of the Valley flowers were one of my grandmother’s favorite flowers. So, when I see them, it reminds me of her. My guess is that certain flowers remind you of a loved one. Do we need all the flower bundles? Probably not, but like a florist, I enjoy have a wide variety on hand. If a particular floral bundle speaks to you, then that is one you probably need to add to your collection. Unlike real flowers, stamps and dies won’t fade in a few weeks. So, if the sweet little bells of the Lilly of the Valley are ringing for you, I say “go for it”.
